Give where you live. Do More in 24.

Alright PUGTATO readers.  I need your help.  It all happens in 4 days.

In 4 days, we each have an opportunity to give back to those who are less fortunate than us.  On June 6th, 2013, the start-up I am a part of, Breast Care for Washington is participating in a one day, online fundraising campaign in conjunction with the National Capital Area United Way called, Do More 24.

This is an innovative, crowd sourced fundraiser for 700 Washington, D.C. non-profits that lasts for 24 hours and is aimed at receiving small donations from many people. I’m heading this up for BCW, and it has been quite a journey to get us to the final days before we launch. Our goal at Breast Care for Washington is to raise $10,000 on June 6th, 2013 through individual donations.

In addition to the individual giving, there will be three social actions on June 6! Wegmans will donate 100,000 lbs. of food to DC area food banks. Pepco will fill shoeboxes with essential personal items, and, Microsoft will donate 10 Surface tablets, as well as free Microsoft Office training for teachers at Kelly Miller Middle School in Washington, DC.

Here’s what we are asking for: Donate $12 and ask 12 of your friends to do the same on June 6th, 2013.

Women are dying from breast cancer at a higher rate in the DC area than anywhere else in the United States. Breast Care for Washington is on its way to providing free breast cancer screening at no cost to women by the end of 2013, but we can’t do it without your help.  We have $350,000 left to raise to launch our services.

Be a part of something great.  Give because you can.  And if you need more reasons to donate on 06.06.2013, I’ll give you a dozen. Please enjoy this lovely video crafted by yours truly.
